I have not yet finished downloading the Garageband and it seems that it will not update the Garageband app that was installed in my Macbook Air. I clicked on it and it started to download. App store was informing me that a free Garageband was avaialble. I just have a problem now: I already have Garageband in my Macbook Air. The App Store informed me that the apps were free! Great! I did not think about it anymore and just downloaded it for fear that they might rescind the free offer. I took on the task of installing them as well :) I got my Macbook Air from Japan in October 2013 and I was eligible for these free apps as explained in the apple website. I was really surprised that I was eligible for the free apps: Keynote, Pages, Numbers, iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband.
I stayed up all night not just due to the Mavericks installation. I think I might be doing something wrong. How I miss buying a CD or a DVD (or 3.5 disk or 5.25 disk) and installing it in 2 to 3 hours. all Saturday night to complete the installation. Truth be told: I had to stay up all night to finish the installation (albeit I had to finish a pending report). My internet connections was not also fast enough.

My rationale: time consuming and since it was still new I perceived that I did not have to do a clean install (although I was very much tempted). I did not make a bootable OS X Mavericks USB. This is a follow up to my post on installing OS X Mavericks on my new Macbook Air. Can I assume that females prefer MacBooks over other laptops? Just to end this entry back on my wife loving my MacBook Air. Sure enough before the year ended my battery was shot and my monitor was damaged. I closed the laptop (without turning it off) and placed it inside my backpack. I had a similar problem with my Compaq laptop. I also found out that if you keep the monitor running (and did not close the MacBook Air) the area where the body of the laptop and the monitor join becomes quite hot - which I think might damage the MacBook Air or decrease the battery life.

From my new experience with the MacBook Air you can close the laptop and due to its fast start up you can immediately watch the movie from the point when you paused. I think is has been a force of habit from Windows users to keep the monitor on and pause the movie so that you are sure that the movie will continue to point when you paused. I just need to remind her constantly that she can close the laptop to pause the movie that she is watching when our baby boy cries, "Mommy!" My wife loves to watch movies in our new MacBook Air. One of the many reasons why I love my new MacBook Air. I also had a Dell laptop from my office but had to return it as I no longer do field work. Her 2 year old Dell laptop purchased from the US has given her nothing but heartache this year (I am about to remedy that. My wife and her family have been buying a lot of laptops in the 6 years that I have known them.
